A swipe through the T witter feed of Gerardi's Bar and Grill newly opened in Hauppauge will not only make you hungry, but long for old Hollywood.
"Elvis appreciated a good sammie and would have LOVED" is posted with a picture of the King biting into one is posted next to ones you might try at the new eatery which serves American cuisine and seasonal fare. A turkey club and chicken BLT tell part of the story.
For a lighter appetite, there's a tapas menu with a host of options, from baked clams to bacon-wrapped scallops, and "Lollipop Duo" of crusted lamb chops or roasted chicken lollipops served with mint jelly.
And there are plenty of hearty choices that include "Stuffed Lobster" which is "overloaded with crab, shrimp, and scallops" topped with melted mozzarella and "Loaded Mac & Cheese" which has smoky cheddar sauce, bacon, and scallions tossed with the elbows. Gerardi's has happy hour and small plates at a wrap-around bar featuring classic cocktails, signature drinks, and craft beers and wine Monday to Friday from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m.
There's a dining room with both high tops and tables and outside patio.
The restaurant is located at 160 Adams Ave. in Hauppauge.
"Had lunch here today, good-sized menu with some creative dishes. I got the French Onion Soup which was excellent, definitely high-quality ingredients and a lot of cheese which I loved! Also got an order of Cold Sesame Noodles (I know its an odd combo) which was very good as well and the portion was perfect," says a post by Erik Hansen on Gerardi's Facebook page .
