Construction Closes Two Poughkeepsie Streets

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Residents and motorists should be prepared for two major road closures Tuesday in Poughkeepsie.

South Cherry Street, along with several other Poughkeepsie streets, will be closed for construction.

According to the Poughkeepsie Public Works Department, the following roads will be closed for road repairs and construction:

  • South Cherry Street, between Forbus Street and College Avenue. Central Hudson contractors will be installing gas services. They expect to reopen the road by 2 p.m.
  • North Hamilton Street, between Cottage Street and High Street, for tree removal.

Work zones are in place, and emergency vehicles will be accommodated. 

Drivers are asked to follow detour signs and to be prepared for slowdowns in traffic.
