'Exhausted, Stressed': Poughkeepsie Healthcare Workers To March For Better Conditions A group of Hudson Valley healthcare workers is asking for better conditions and the opportunity to negotiate a contract.  As part of their effort to improve circumstances at hospitals in both Dutchess and Putnam counties, a "Dignity March" will be held on Thursday, Dec. 1 from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. in Poughkeepsie starting at Vassar Brothers Hospital at 45 Reade Pl. and ending at the Mid-Hudson Bridge, according to the 1199SEIU United Healthcare Workers East union.  Those organizing the march said that poor working conditions at both Vassar Brothers Hospital and Putnam Hospi…

The City of Poughkeepsie Police said the violence began around 1 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 30, when officers responded were dispatched to Lent Street for a report of past occurred shots fired.  When officers arrived, they found an occupied residence had been struck by gunfire approximately 30 minutes prior to the call. Woman, 30, Killed In Head-On, Wrong-Way Town Of Poughkeepsie Crash A 30-year-old woman was killed in a head-on crash on Easter. The victim, from Wappingers Falls, was killed around 5:54 p.m., Sunday, April 4, during the crash on Route 9 in front of Nine Mall Plaza in the Town of Poughkeepsie, authorities said. The crash occurred when an 83-year-old Wappingers Falls man was traveling south in the northbound lane of Route 9 and collided head-on with a 2019 Nissan Sentra driven by a 28-year-old man, also of Wappingers Falls,  said Town of Poughkeepsie Police Captain Joseph Cavaliere. It happened on the southbound side around 8:15 p.m. on Wednesday, March 4 in Pleasant Valley just south of Exit 54 (Route 44). An investigation revealed a 2019 Mercedes Sprinter, operated by Jim George, 42, of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, was driving north in the southbound lanes and struck a 2017 Subaru Impreza, state police said. The save took place around 12:24 p.m. Wednesday when officers Devin Ludwig and Mark Liebermann responded to the area of Andrews Place, a public highway located in the Village of Wappingers Falls for a report of a male down, said Lt P.
