Man Breaks Into Hudson Valley Apartment While Victim Sleeps, Police Say A man faces charges after allegedly breaking into a victim's apartment while they were sleeping in Northern Westchester, police said. The incident happened on Sunday, May 14 around 3:15 a.m., when police in Yorktown received a report of a man entering a victim's apartment without permission while they were sleeping, according to Yorktown Police.  Officers then responded to the scene and met with the victim before beginning an investigation into the incident. The Yorktown Police Department issued an alert advising motorists that at 12 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 8, the parade will kick off at the Yorktown Fire Department fairgrounds on Veterans Road, continuing through Commerce Street to Hanover Street, before concluding at the Grande Fair grounds on Moseman Avenue. Separate Crashes Cause Gridlock On Taconic Parkway This story has been updated. There was gridlock on a stretch of the Taconic State Parkway early Wednesday morning with separate southbound crashes, including one that blocked the left lane for about an hour. A crash at Underhill Avenue in Yorktown in which the lane was blocked causes 20-30 minute delays back to near the Putnam County line until the lane reopened around 8 a.m. Farther north, there was a second crash on the shoulder at Route 202/35 in Yorktown.

A stretch of Route 129 in Yorktown was closed following a serious two-vehicle crash with injuries that occurred during the Monday morning commute.
