Child Struck By School Bus In Hudson Valley, Police Say A 6-year-old Hudson Valley boy is recovering after being struck by a school bus. The incident occurred in Rockland County around 9:30 a.m., Tuesday, March 26 in Monsey. According to Det. Lt. Chris Franklin of the Ramapo Police, the child was struck by a school bus on West Maple Avenue.  Franklin said the child suffered serious, but non-life-threatening injuries and was transported to the hospital by Hatzolah Ambulance Corps. Pedestrian Struck By Vehicle In Dutchess, Police Say Dutchess County Sheriff's officers are investigating a crash in which a pedestrian was hit by a vehicle in Rhinebeck. The incident took place around 1:45 p.m., Tuesday, Dec. 17, at the intersection of White Schoolhouse Road and Slate Quarry Road, Capt. John Watterson of the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office said. As of 430 p.m., police had blocked off Slate Quarry Road between Wurtemburg Road and White Schoolhouse Road, to conduct an investigation, Watterson said. Crash Causes Hours-Long Route 82 Closure In Dutchess This story has been updated. A stretch of Route 82 was closed for hours after a crash with downed wires in East Fishkill. 34 Cars Get Flat Tires Due To Large Piece Of Metal On I-84, Police Say Thirty-four drivers started the morning off on the wrong foot when they hit a large piece of metal in the roadway and got flat tires in return. The multiple flat tires were reported around 8 a.m., Monday, April 8,  while exiting westbound I-84 west onto the northbound Route 8 ramp in Waterbury, near Mixmaster, the Connecticut State Police said. DOT responded and removed the metal with a payloader, state police said. Man Caught After Fleeing Scene Of Hit-Run Involving Boy In Hudson Valley A 25-year-old man who hit a 9-year-old boy walking to school and then fled the area has been arrested by Sleepy Hollow Police. The incident took place around 6:30 a.m. Tuesday when the boy left home to go to his bus stop and stopped by a local convenience store to pick up a snack, said Sleepy Hollow Police Chief Anthony Bueti.  When the child was leaving the area of the store on Depeyster Street, near Clinton Street, he was struck by Jefferson Rodrigues-Veraf of Ossining, the chief said. Train Strikes Car On Tracks In Hudson Valley A driver was able to escape before a car on the tracks was struck by a train early Sunday afternoon in Rockland County. At about 1:30 p.m., the New Jersey transit train traveling to Spring Valley struck the car at the New Clarkstown Road crossing in Nanuet. The vehicle was sitting in traffic, on the tracks, when the railroad crossing gates began to come down as the train was approaching the crossing, Clarkstown Police said.
