A joint investigation by authorities has led to the arrest of a Hudson Valley man accused of sex crimes against a child, rape, and other charges. The New York State Police Child Abuse Unit (CAU) in Orange County announces the arrest of Eduardo R. Martinez Rojas, age 29, from the town of Woodbury on Friday evening, June 16. Man Faces Assault Charge After Altercation With Woman On State Thruway
An Orange County man allegedly punched a woman in the face and attempted to take her cell phone as she was calling 911, State Police said. A physical altercation broke out at approximately 3 p.m. on Tuesday, June 30 on I-87 in Woodbury near the Woodbury Toll Plaza, police said, after a man and woman were involved in a dispute. The investigation determined that Newburgh resident Michael Aikens, 28, allegedly punch a 23-year-old woman in the nose during an argument and then sought to take her phone to prevent her from calling police. Man, 21, Charged With First-Degree Rape, State Police Say
A 21-year-old Fairfield County man wanted on a charge of first-degree rape is behind bars after turning himself into to New York State Police. Lucas C. Xavier, of Brookfield, is accused of forcible sexual intercourse with an unwilling party, state police said. The incident occurred in the town of Woodbury in Orange County, state police said. Xavier was charged with first-degree rape, a Class B felony after he turned himself in at the state police barracks in Monroe for processing. Accused Poughkeepsie Drug-Dealing Duo Caught With Heroin In I-87 Stop, Police Say
Two men from Poughkeepsie were arrested following a traffic stop that resulted in police finding a large amount of heroin. New York State Police stopped a vehicle traveling on I-87 around 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Dec. 18 in Woodbury. During the interview with the driver, 58-year-old Elton Cromedy, police established probable cause to conduct a search. During the search, police allegedly discovered the passenger, 59-year-old Willie H. Cutler, with around 57 grams of heroin as well as a glass smoking device containing crack-cocaine residue. Poughkeepsie Man Caught With Heroin In State Police Stop
State Police stopped a vehicle in Orange County that led to the arrest of a Poughkeepsie man on Monday, Nov. 19 around 10:30 p.m. Robert J. Walker, 62, was one of the passengers in a vehicle that was pulled over in Orange County for a traffic violation, according to a New York State Police press release. Two men are behind bars after are being busted with brass knuckles and more than 600 grams of Khat on I-87 in Orange County. New York State Police troopers stopped Samer Al-Ruhiami shortly after 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 27 on the interstate in Woodbury for a vehicle and traffic violation.
