Victim Of Fatal Candlewood Lake Accident Was Beloved Teacher The victim of a fatal boating accident on Candlewood Lake in New Fairfield was a beloved middle school teacher and a single mother of two. Wanda Tirado, 38, of Waterbury, was fatally injured when she was swimming near Squantz Cove late Tuesday afternoon.
