Area Man Attempted To Kill Wife With Knives As Teenage Son Helps To Fight Him Off, Police Say A teenage son helped fight off his father after he violently broke into a home and allegedly attempted to kill his wife while waving two large butcher knives. Patrick Loria, 44, of Port Jervis, was arrested on Tuesday, Jan. 29, and charged with attempted murder, following an investigation into a report of a violent domestic disturbance, said Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden. According to police, Loria is alleged to have arrived at the home on North Orange Street and forcibly damaged and entered through a front door while his son was attempting to prevent him from gaining entry. …

Ex-Police Officer Kills Wife, Self In Area Police are investigating the murder-suicide of a former police in Westchester and his wife that took place in Orange County on Tuesday, Jan. 15. The incident was uncovered around 8:06 p.m. Tuesday when the Middletown Police Department was notified through 911 of a potential death investigation in the city, said City of Middletown Police Lt. Jeffry R. Thoelen.
