One Critically Injured In Chain-Reaction Seven-Vehicle Crash In Area One person was critically injured in a chain-reaction seven-vehicle crash at a busy intersection in Northern Westchester. It happened at about 3 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 13 at Whitehall Corners, the intersection of Route 100 and Route 35 in Somers. A preliminary investigation by state police revealed a box truck driven by Dondre Birch, 26, of the Bronx, was traveling west on Route 35 when it crossed the double yellow line and struck vehicle 2, driven by Ted Dimond, 54, of New York City. One Driver Trapped In Head-On Area Crash A two-vehicle head-on crash trapped the driver of one vehicle in Northern Westchester. The crash took place around 8:17 a.m., Friday, Feb. 14, at the intersection of Mahopac Avenue and Route 35 in Somers, said the Somers Volunteer Fire Department. The first units on the scene found the trapped driver, and with a crew of five using the Jaws of Life to remove the side of the vehicle, the driver was removed within eight minutes, the department said.
