The incident took place in Dutchess County around 8 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 16 when police responded to 881 Dutchess Turnpike in the town of Poughkeepsie on a report of an armed kidnapping, Town of Poughkeepsie Police said. Tanker Fire Causes Dutchess Road Closure Route 22 is shut down in both directions Saturday night in the Town of Amenia between the Amenia Town Hall and the intersection of Route 343 following a tanker fire, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office reports just before 9:30 p.m. Traffic can still travel west on Route 44 towards Millbrook and east on Route 343 towards Connecticut. The road closure is due to the brakes on a loaded gasoline tanker catching fire and disabling the vehicle.  The tank has not been compromised and there has been no release of hazardous materials.  The Amenia and Wassaic Fire Departments extinguished the fire …
