Eighth-Grader With BB Gun At School Charged In Poughkeepsie A Dutchess County middle school student has been arrested for allegedly bringing a BB gun to school despite enhanced procedures. The student was charged on Thursday, March 10 at Poughkeepsie Middle School, said Irwin Goldberg, the public information officer for the Poughkeepsie School District. "District officials are reviewing video and gathering facts via internal investigation to determine how the weapon may have gotten into the school," said Goldberg.  Any information will be shared with law enforcement, he added. Covid-19: Poughkeepsie City School District Staffer Tests Positive A staff member at a high school in the area has tested positive for the novel coronavirus (COVID-19). The staffer notified Poughkeepsie High School on Sunday, March 22 of a positive diagnosis, said Irwin M. Goldberg, spokesperson for the Poughkeepsie School District. Based on the facts received, the staff member was exposed to COVID-19 by someone outside of the high school community and sought testing after being notified of their potential exposure, Goldberg said.
