Firefighter Injured During Blaze At Residence In Hudson Valley
A firefighter was injured during a blaze at a Northern Westchester home that began in the residence's garage. The incident began on Thursday, May 16 just after 6 p.m., when Croton-on-Hudson firefighters raced to a home on Memory Lane for a reported blaze. Within minutes, crews were at the scene and confirmed that a fire had begun in the residence's garage. Firefighters then stretched a hose to the garage while also searching the home for residents. A Northern Westchester deli has reopened under the leadership of a new owner who hopes to rebuild relationships between the location and the community. Anthony "Tony" Scarduzio opened Scarduzio’s Deli Catering & Pizza in Ossining in July. The deli is located at 97 Main St., the former location of Village Villarina’s Deli. Scarduzio said business has been going well, but he has had to work to regain some of the customers who stopped going to Villarina’s due to the previous owner, Patrick Patierno. A fireman and former high school sports standout in Northern Westchester has died unexpectedly at 27. Andrew Panken was a Village of Ossining Fire Department foreman. "It’s with profound sadness [and] regrets the Ossining Fire Department announces the sudden passing of Foreman Andrew J. Fire Destroys One School Bus, Damages Others In Area
A bus was destroyed and two others damaged when a two-alarm fire ripped through a bus storage and repair garage in Yorktown Heights. The fire was reported at 5:09 p.m. Wednesday at the Baumann & Sons Bus Corporation at 1701 Front St., according to the Yorktown Heights Volunteer Fire Department. In addition to damaging the buses, the fire also damaged part of the repair area of the garage and the structure sustained heavy damage as a result of the fire, the fire department reported.
