2 Hudson Valley Residents Charged After Threatening Person With Gun, Machete A Hudson Valley man and woman were charged with possession of a weapon and menacing after allegedly threatening a person with a gun and a machete. The incident took place in Orange County around 2:30 p.m. on Friday, Dec. 8 in Newburgh on Timber Ridge Road.  According to Lt. Peter Talarico of the Newburgh Police, a verbal argument broke between the man and woman and victim when the man pulled out a machete threatened the victim, and hit their car with the weapon as they were leaving. Standoff: Man Held Woman Against Will In Apartment In Hudson Valley, Police Say After several hours of negotiations, a man surrendered to police after holding a woman against her will in a Westchester County apartment, authorities said.  The incident started in the early morning of Friday, Feb. 10, around 3 a.m., when distressed family members told Mount Vernon Police that a woman was being held against her will at 29 East 4th St. and had sent concerning text messages about the situation.  Several officers and members of the department's Police Emergency Services Unit then established a perimeter around the apartment and began negotiations with the …

Man Armed With Rifle Kills Himself During Domestic Dispute In Dutchess A 37-year-old armed with a rifle is fatally shot himself after a domestic dispute resulted in a standoff with responding officers. At about 10:43 p.m. on Friday, July 20, the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office responded to 208 Old Route 22 in the Town of Amenia for a 911 call reporting a domestic dispute involving a man in possession of a firearm.
