Hudson Valley Native Douglas Vane, Longtime Police Sergeant, Dies A Westchester native who was a longtime police officer in Northern Fairfield County has died. He was 75. Motorcyclist Killed In Crash With SUV Driven By Brewster Man A 25-year-old Fairfield County man was killed following a crash with a car, according to Danbury Police. Samuel Hyde of Danbury died Thursday following a serious crash around 7 p.m. on Backus Avenue near the west entrance of the Danbury Mall, said Danbury Police Det. Lt. Mark Williams. An investigation into the crash found that Hyde was operating a Honda CBR 954RR motorcycle at a high rate of speed, westbound on Backus Avenue when the motorcycle struck a 2008 Honda CRV, Williams said.
