Coyote Attacks 2 In Hudson Valley
A town in the region is warning residents to be on the lookout for a rabid coyote after two residents were attacked while walking. The incident took place in Northern Westchester on Thursday, Nov. 17 shortly after 5 p.m. in North Salem on Turkey Hill Road. One person was bitten with a puncture wound on their leg. The second person was not injured, North Salem Town Supervisor Warren Lucas said. Six peacocks on Martha Stewart's 153-acre New York estate were killed in a brazen, broad-daylight attack by coyotes. The 80-year-old writer/television personality said she's building an enclosed fence around her yard at the property in the hamlet of Katonah in the Town of Bedford in Northern Westchester County. Injured Miniature Horse Likely Attacked By Black Bear
State wildlife officials believe a miniature horse may have been attacked by a black bear due to the nature of the injuries. The incident was reported in Fairfield County on Wednesday, May 20, when a Wilton resident called the police department to report the attack, said Wilton Police Lt. Robert Kluk. Three Bitten By Aggressive Fox In Area
Three people are receiving rabies shots after being bitten by an aggressive fox in Yorktown that is still at large, according to the Westchester County Department of Health. Due to its aggressive behavior, the fox is believed to be rabid. The health department used robo-calls Monday to notify nearby residents. The first attack occurred at 6 a.m. Saturday, when a jogger was bitten by a fox on Lee Boulevard.
