Dutchess County Sheriff Butch Anderson Dies This story has been updated. Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian "Butch" Anderson, who has led the department for more than 20 years, has died. Anderson, age 73, of Pawling, died in his sleep on Wednesday, Sept. 29, according to officials. Latest Scams Impersonate Dutchess Sheriff, Medicaid The scammers are at it again, and this time they are even pretending to be a local sheriff. According to the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office, a new scam involves callers identifying themselves as Sheriff Adrian "Butch" Anderson and tells the person they have been the victim of identity theft, said Capt. John Watterson. Another new scam is also hitting the phone lines with callers pretending to be from Medicare offer fake services that don't exist, the department said. Dutchess County Sheriff To Conduct Boating Safety Courses Marine Patrol Deputies throughout the county will be conducting a series of boating safety courses over the next several months, Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian “Butch” Anderson announced in a press release. These safety courses are intended to provide boaters with the knowledge and safety skills they need to operate their vessels properly and responsibly. Those born on or after May 1, 1996 must complete an approved course to operate a mechanically-propelled boat, as per required by law. Change In Visitation Hours Announced At Dutchess County Jail Residents with loved ones or friends in the Dutchess County Jail will soon be able to visit them on Sunday, according to Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian ”Butch” Anderson. After receiving numerous requests from family and friends of inmates, the sheriff said he worked to Dutchess County Executive Marc Molinaro to make the change happen.
