POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- At a special meeting Wednesday night, the Poughkeepsie City School District Board of Education will be voting on several new hires, including a new deputy superintendent.
Dr. Kathleen Farrell will be hired with a five-year contract for $150,000 a year. The vote was originally scheduled for June 7.
Two school board trustees who were recently voted out of office will be approving Farrell's hire and the other agenda items, which include hirings and awarding tenure. Their replacements will not join the board until July.
Board member Felicia Watson along with Doreen Clifford and Debra Long, who will join the board in July had sent letters to the school board questioning the hire as well as other decisions the board will be voting on
Farrell previously worked as superintendent of the Catskill Central School District.
