DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. - State police in Dutchess County are seeking the public’s assistance as they search for a woman wanted for stealing thousands of dollars in unemployment benefits.

The New York State Police issued an alert regarding 34-year-old Poughkeepsie resident Shannette Riley, who is wanted on a charge of third-degree grand larceny following her arrest in 2010.

According to police, Riley was arrested for unlawfully collecting more than $3,000 worth of unemployment benefits while she was gainfully employed. After she failed to appear in court to answer the charge, a warrant was issued for her arrest.

Riley was described by police as a 5-foot-4 black female weighing approximately 220 pounds with black hair and brown eyes. Her last known address was in the Poughkeepsie area.

Anyone with information regarding Riley’s whereabouts have been asked to contact state police in Poughkeepsie by calling (845) 677-7300 or emailing
