POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- A City of Poughkeepsie woman, who was arguing with a friend, became so mad, she ended up stabbing him with a samurai sword on Friday, July 29, according to police.
Akema Carter, 41, was charged with second-degree assault, after the stabbing of a 23-year-old man who was inside her North Hamilton Street home, according to Detective Lt. Matt Clark of the City of Poughkeepsie Police Department.
"I've seen hundreds of stabbings," Clark said. "I can't say I've ever seen someone stabbed with a samurai sword."
The unidentified victim, who underwent surgery over the weekend, has been released from the hospital, Clark said.
Carter is being held on $5,000 cash bail or $10,000 bond, she is scheduled for a preliminary hearing on Thursday, Aug. 4, police said.Click here to sign up for Daily Voice's free daily emails and news alerts.
