Marlin A. Baker of Poughkeepsie was charged with felony criminal contempt on Thursday, June 21, after Town of Poughkeepsie Police received a complaint of three individuals riding bikes on Main Street that had been stolen from the caller, said Capt. Kevin Faber.

Responding officers located Baker and a woman on two of the bikes when they arrived on scene. The third person had ridden away, Faber said.

During a check, police discovered that a protective order was in place against Baker for the woman he was with, he added.

The owner of the bikes declined to press charges for the theft.

Baker was arraigned and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash bond or $20,000 bond.
