Hudson Valley Sheriffs Talk Counterterrorism With NYC Police Commissioner

GOSHEN, N.Y. -- Orange County Sheriff Carl E. DuBois, Sullivan County Sheriff Michael Schiff along with seven other upstate New York sheriffs' offices including Putnam County met Monday with New York City Police Commissioner William C. Bratton, Deputy Commissioner John Miller, Chief of Department James O’Neill, and other top NYPD brass to discuss mutual policing concerns including counterterrorism, training, community relations, technology, and a host of other issues.

Sheriffs from seven Upstate counties including Orange and Sullivan met with New York City Police Department's commissioner and other top officials Monday to discuss counterterrorism meassures and other mutual concerns.

Putnam County was represented at the meeting by Undersheriff Peter Convery.

In a press statement, Sheriff DuBois said, “We appreciate Commissioner Bratton and members of his command staff taking time out from their busy schedules to speak with us."

"NYPD under Commissioner Bratton’s leadership is on the cutting edge and leads the world in all aspects of policing,'' DuBois added. "We are lucky to have access to NYPD and their resources in partnership to benefit our agencies and the people we protect.”

Brooklyn Borough President Eric Adams, a retired NYPD captain, and his staff arranged and coordinated this meeting, according to Captain Scott K Hamill of the Orange County Sheriff's Office.
