Former Fishkill Inmate, 18, Charged With Possessing Cutting Instrument

FISHKILL, N.Y. -- An 18-year-old former inmate at Downstate Correctional Facility is accused of possessing a metal-cutting instrument while in the custody of the prison, authorities said Wednesday, Jan. 13.

Kaliq Boykin was arrested Tuesday and charged with first-degree promoting prison contraband, according to a statement from New York state troopers.

According to authorities, the New York state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision found Boykin in possession of the metal cutter in October and promptly notified state police.

In December, a warrant was issued in Fishkill Town Court ordering Boykin to appear to answer to the charge.

After his arrest, Boykin was arraigned in Fishkill Town Court and returned to Upstate Correctional Facility pending a future court appearance.
