POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. -- Four adults who were passengers on a school bus that lost control and ended up in the woods were participants in community-based programs, according to Melissa McCoy, the chief advancement officer with Abilities First.

According to Town of Poughkeepsie Police Sgt. Brian Wagner, police are not sure what caused the bus, owned by First Student, to skid into the wooded area off Pendell Road around 8:40 a.m. Monday.

Route 9G and Pendell Road were both closed shortly after the accident as the Town of Poughkeepsie Police Department and the Fairview Fire Department worked to remove patients, police said.

All four adults were transported to MidHudson Regional Hospital for evaluation and released with no injuries, said McCoy.

At the time of the accident, three of the adults were traveling to ARC and one to Abilities First, she added.
