DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Fairview Fire District firefighters are on the scene of a fire at the former Hudson River Psychiatric Center in Poughkeepsie that began earlier Thursday morning, according to Fire District officials.
The district is reporting on its Facebook page that as firefighters battle the blaze, residents in the area of Legion Road and Hook Road may experience water problems. The Town of Poughkeepsie water department is working on correcting the issue.
Smoke from the fire can be seen for miles across the area as firefighters work to get the fire under control. Chief Christopher Maeder is scheduled to release an update later Thursday with details about the fire.
