Attorney Charged With Forcibly Touching Client, Dutchess Sheriff Says

A Poughkeepsie attorney had inappropriate sexual contact with a client according to the Dutchess County Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau.

Wayne Thatcher, 63, was charged Thursday following an investigation that followed a report of repeated sexual contact with the client, said the Sheriff's Office.

The actions took place in the Town of Poughkeepsie and the City of Poughkeepsie, sheriff's officials said.

Thatcher, who was charged with two counts of forcible touching, was processed and released on his own recognizance. He is due to reappear in court Friday and again in the Town of Poughkeepsie on May 23. 

The sheriff's office asked anyone who may have information about this case or experienced similar incidents involving Thatcher are urged to contact the Sheriff’s Office Detective Bureau at 845-486-3820 and ask for Detective Harris.
