Born in Poughkeepsie, Anson worked in the banking industry for many years. She began her career with the former Fallkill National Bank in Poughkeepsie, which was later acquired by the Bank of New York. She retired as a loan officer from the Bank of New York.
Anson was a member of the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, as well as an avid reader.
She is survived by eight of her nine children, Virginia "Bunny" DeGroodt and her husband Earl of Hyde Park, Cecelia Mattice of Kingston, Patricia Sherman of Florida, Kenneth Anson and his wife Carol of Hyde Park, Margaret Davies and husband Albert of Hyde Park, Isabelle "Tink" Ferris of Hyde Park Dawn Davies and her husband Gary of Hyde Park, Mary-Kay "Mickey" Hanaburgh and her husband Allan of Florida; 21 grandchildren; 42 great-grandchildren; and several great-great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Anson was predeceased by her husband of nearly 60 years, Kenneth; daughter Sandra Palmatier; parents Francis and Katherine Rugar Spilbor; and siblings Francis "Bud" Spilbor, Clarence Spilbor, Walter Spilbor, Katherine Trowbridge and Edith Storms.
Visiting hours will be from 4-7 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 27, at Sweet's Funeral Home, Route 9, Hyde Park. A memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 28, at the United Methodist Church of Hyde Park, 1 Church St. Her ashes will be buried in the family plot in Union Cemetery of Hyde Park at a private ceremony.
