Mary T. (Slavic) O’Rourke, 91, Former Poughkeepsie Resident

POUGHKEEPSIE, N.Y. – Mary T. (Slavic) O’Rourke, recently of Burlington, Mass., and former longtime resident of Poughkeepsie, died Sunday, Jan. 17, at Lahey Hospital & Medical Center. She was 91.

She was born on Aug. 16, 1924, in Poughkeepsie to Frank and Anna (Rituper) Slavic. She was born and raised in Poughkeepsie and was a graduate of Poughkeepsie High School. She spent her career working as a representative for New York telephone companies. 

She was a longtime member of St. Mary’s Church in Wappingers Falls, and the Mother’s Guild at St. Mary’s School.

She moved to Burlington, Mass., in 2014 to be close to her family.

She is survived by her children, Thomas O’Rourke and his wife, Patty, of Austin, Texas; Patricia Pena of Chelmsford; and Maureen O’Rourke and her husband, James Molloy, of Brookline, Mass.; and grandchildren Jason and Justin Schmidt and their families.

She was predeceased by her husband John J. O’Rourke; and brothers Frank and Louis Slavic, and son-in-law Eliseo Pena.

Friends may call Wednesday from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. at the Delehanty Funeral Home, 64 E. Main St.., Wappingers Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Thursday at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Church, 11 Clinton St., Wappingers Falls. Interment will take place in St. Mary’s Cemetery.
