MARLBORO, N.Y. – Boyd Richard "Red" Brewer, Sr., of Marlboro, died on Wednesday, March 30, at Vassar Brothers Medical Center in Poughkeepsie. He was 87.
Brewer was born on March 31, 1928, in Belmont, N.C., to John and Frances Robinson Brewer.
He retired as an iron worker with Local 417 in Newburgh. He was a member of the Marlboro Seniors.
He is survived by five children, Donald of New Jersey, Wayne of Texas, Boyd Jr. and his wife Cathy of Newburgh, Kevin of Texas and Bruce of Montgomery, three sisters, Irene Kirby of North Carolina, Johnnie May Woodruff of Florida, Barbara O'Dell of North Carolina, brother Billy Brewer of North Carolina, seven grandchildren, various great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be private and at the convenience of the family.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Arrangements will be handled by Libby Funeral Home, 55 Teller Ave. in Beacon.
