Alma Delaney Howard, 71, Of Wappingers Falls

WAPPINGERS FALLS, N.Y. – Alma Delaney Howard of Wappingers Falls died on Thursday, Jan. 7. She was 71.

Howard attended St. Mary's School in Wappingers and graduated from Our Lady of Lourdes High School. She went on to St. Clare’s School of Nursing in New York City where she graduated as an RN. Though she was a nurse and the first female firefighter of the New Hamburg Fire District, her most fulfilling career was working at the Child Abuse Prevention Center. She was the Teen Connections Program Coordinator and Coordinator of the Special Needs Parenting Program.

She is survived by her children, Jamie and James Lamando of Hopewell Junction; Colleen Diesing of Wappingers Falls; Kate and Gary Rogers of Poughkeepsie; and son Damian and Melissa Morrill of Jonesville, S. Carolina.

Howard was predeceased by a baby brother, Edward Delaney and also by her husband James F. Howard who passed away on January 13, 1991.
