Nationwide Recall Targets P.F. Chang's Home Menu Frozen Foods

An Arkansas food distributor is recalling more than 195,000 pounds of frozen chicken and beef products released under the P.F. Chang's Home Menu brand, according to the United States Department of Agriculture.

ConAgra Foods is recalling the frozen items after finding that certain packages may be contaminated with "curled, malleable and shiny" metal between 2-9 millimeters in size, according to the USDA, which reported the metal may be embedded in the sauce contained in the frozen entrees.

The affected packages were produced between May 31 and June 22 and include:

22-oz. plastic bagged meal packages of “P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Signature Spicy Chicken” with “Use By” date of 6/08/17 and case code 5006616500.
22-oz. plastic bagged meal packages of “P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Mongolian Style Beef” with “Use By” date of 6/17/17 and case code 5006617400.
22-oz. plastic bagged meal packages of “P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Mongolian Style Beef” with “Use By” date of 6/1/17 and case code 5006615800.
22-oz. plastic bagged meal packages of “P.F. Chang’s Home Menu Beef with Broccoli” with “Use By” date of 6/4/17 and case code 5006616100.

The products subject to recall bear establishment number “EST. 233” or “EST. P-115” inside the USDA mark of inspection, according to the USDA.

According to the USDA, the problem was discovered on July 1, leading to an initial recall on July 6. On July 14, the recall was expanded to include 195,597 pound of food across the country.

As of Sunday night, no one had been injured as a result of the contaminated packages, according to the USDA.

Anyone who may have purchased an affected package is urged to either throw the package away or return it to the point of sale. Anyone with additional questions should call the USDA at 1-800-252-0634.
