The Frances Reese Cultural Center, a former outbuilding at Carnwath Farms estate which houses the Sports Museum of Dutchess County, received the lesser designation, meaning no one can live there, The Poughkeepsie Journal story said.

The mansion has a leaky roof and dangerous rotting floors; work needed in the cultural center could entail repairing its heating and water systems, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported. The center also needs a working fire alarm, the newspaper said..

The Town Board, which is consulting with inspectors, currently has no plans for repairing either building, but the matter is on its agenda Monday, Jan. 23, The Poughkeepsie Journal reported.

Vandalism and trespassing incidents had been on the rise at the property, raising safety concerns over the mansion’s decrepit condition, according to The Journal News.
