Beacon School District's Lawyer Says Lack Of Notice On Meeting Was Mistake

BEACON, N.Y. -- Just as the Beacon City School District lost another superintendent last week, and parents are upset about not being more involved in the process, the district's attorney admits that the board should have given notice for a meeting that took place earlier this month, according to the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Attorney Michael Lambert said the district should have given notice before holding an early meeting.

The attorney, Michael Lambert, who is part of a petition to the state asking for him to be removed, along with the former Superintendent Barbara Walkley, told a crowd of more than 250 parents, teachers and community members, said that the meeting that was set to begin at 7 p.m., but actually began at 6:30 p.m., should have been noticed to the public, said the Poughkeepsie Journal.

Lambert added that the district would be more diligent in terms of making sure that notice is given for meetings that will take place earlier, added the Poughkeepsie Journal.
