“Thanks to our customers, we’re excited to fulfill our pledge to provide 55,000 meals to the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley to assist local families,” said James P. Laurito, president and CEO of Central Hudson. “We’re pleased that more of our customers are taking advantage of our convenient electronic billing option and delighted to support the Food Bank’s important mission.”
The Food Bank of the Hudson Valley supplies more than 400 local food pantries, soup kitchens, shelters and other feeding programs, largely through donations by the food industry, as well as from individuals and organizations. In 2015, the nonprofit agency provided 15.5 million pounds of food throughout six Hudson Valley counties, enough for nearly 13 million meals.
“We are very happy Central Hudson has reached its goal of enrolling 55,000 customers in its e-Bills program and will now fulfill its pledge to provide 55,000 meals for the hungry people the Food Bank of the Hudson Valley serves,” said Mark Quandt, director of the food bank. “Central Hudson has been a longtime generous supporter of the Food Bank, and we are very grateful for everything they have done on our behalf to benefit those most in need in our community.”
