DUTCHESS COUNTY, N.Y. -- Dutchess County's ThinkDIFFERENTLY initiative, which encourages residents, organizations, and businesses to create a welcoming environment for those with special needs, will host a "Day at the Beach," on Saturday.
The event, hosted by the Town of East Fishkill, will run from noon to 6 p.m., at Red Wing Lake.
The free rain-or-shine event offers beach mats for easy access to and from the water, a floating sand wheelchair, aquatic assistant swimming devices, and new playground equipment; much of the new equipment was donated by local businesses.
The next ThinkDIFFERENTLY event will take place on Tuesday, Aug. 15, when they host a special needs picnic from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at Freedom Park in LaGrange.
This year's picnic will include a carnival theme and new attractions, as well as live music and a lunch menu that includes gluten-free chicken strips, among other options. Space is limited, so please register your family at www.dutchessny.gov/rsvp.
