Fatal Stabbing Of Beloved Veteran Under Investigation In Beacon
Police in the Hudson Valley are investigating the death of a beloved veteran who was stabbed to death on Christmas Day.
Dutchess County resident Rene ‘Scout’ Vivo, age 65, a longtime resident of Beacon, died on Saturday, Dec. 25 after being stabbed in Beacon.
The City of Beacon Police, which did not return calls for information, said on Facebook that it is actively investigating the stabbing.
"At this time, it appears to be an isolated incident, and there is no danger to the residents of Beacon," the department said.

NY State Police Donate Over 1,300 Toys To Area Children For Christmas
New York State Police in Troop K, with the help of local businesses and the United States Marine Corps, has amassed 1,329 toys for donation to the Dutchess County Toys for Tots chapter.
Between Wednesday, Nov. 25 and Friday, Dec. 18, members of the community dropped off new, unwrapped toys at Troop K headquarters in Salt Point for donation. Then, area members of the Marine Corps picked up the donated presents for distribution to children in the area.
All 18 police stations in Westchester, Putnam, Dutchess and Columbia counties participated in the Toys for Tots program.
Fdny Firefighter, Former Westchester Resident Killed In Afghanistan By Roadside Bomb
A U.S. Marine killed in Afghanistan by a roadside bomb on Monday, April 8 was a New York City firefighter and a former Westchester resident.
Christopher A. Slutman, 43, of Ladder Company 27 in the South Bronx, a 15-year veteran of the department, died as a result of injuries sustained while on active duty in Afghanistan, said New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio.
Slutman, who lived in Yonkers with his wife and three children for years, most recently lived in Wilmington, Delaware, and commuted to New York to work, according to News 4.
