New York State Police and local police agencies announced earlier this month that they would “be out in force” during the holiday season as they conduct a STOP-DWI holiday season crackdown enforcement effort, looking to cut down on the number of impaired drivers in the Hudson Valley.

Troopers from Haverstraw arrested New Windsor resident Edgar Rivera, 21, on the Palisades Interstate Parkway in Clarkstown for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the stop, it was determined he was impaired by alcohol.

Troopers from Monroe also arrested Garnerville resident Kimberly Springman, 32, on Route 17M in Monroe for a vehicle and traffic violation. During the stop, it was determined he was impaired by alcohol.

Other arrests happened in Preston Hollow, Cottekill and Kingston. All of the drivers were charged with a misdemeanor count of driving while intoxicated and have since been released. They are due back in court at a later date to answer the charges.
