A complex storm that will last for parts of three days will bring a mix of rain and sleet, with snow in some spots, along with windy conditions. A 66-year-old man died, and two others were hospitalized after a suspected gas leak at a home in the region. The incident occurred in Sullivan County around 9:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 18, in Wurtsboro. According to New York State Police Trooper Steven Nevel, the preliminary investigation revealed that the victims were exposed to carbon monoxide and experienced varying degrees of exposure. A 22-year-old man was killed and a woman injured followed a crash in the region. The collision occurred in Orange County around 10:50 p.m., Saturday, Nov. 16, in Warwick near Pulaski Highway, according to Warwick Police Chief John Rader. The first officers to arrive at the scene began life-saving measures on the man from the village of Florida, Rader said. Multiple students were treated following a chemical exposure at a Northern Westchester middle school, fire officials said. A much beloved deputy sheriff in the region known for being a part-time comedian and his love of dinosaurs has died after a courageous battle with cancer. Nicholas Gasparre, age 36, a lifelong Hudson Valley resident, passed away peacefully at his home on Friday, Nov. 15, surrounded by his family, friends, and his brothers and sisters of the Dutchess County Sheriff's Office. He began serving the country as a volunteer firefighter for the Beekman Fire District.
