Yorktown Police Department To Be Outfitted In Body Cams
A Northern Westchester town has authorized outfitting its police department with body-worn cameras. In an announcement on Wednesday, June 5, the Yorktown Town Board said it has approved the purchase of body cameras for the Yorktown Police Department as part of an over $478,000 contract with Axon Enterprises. Officers are expected to begin wearing the cameras during the summer. Three New York police officers are off the hook for criminal charges in the death of a man who caught fire after being hit with a stun gun. The New York Attorney General’s Office of Special Investigation (OSI) found that a prosecutor would not be able to prove that the three officers, all members of the Catskill Police Department in Greene County, committed a crime in the October 2021 death of Jason Jones. Authorities have identified a 34-year-old woman who police said was killed in an officer-involved shooting in the Hudson Valley after attempting to stab officers. A Westchester man was arrested after threatening to attack another man was tased after turning his anger on police.
