19: New Testing Site Coming To Westchester Amid Rise In Cases
With the Omicron COVID-19 variant raging and new cases spiking across New York, the state will be opening up a pair of new testing sites in the Hudson Valley. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced that the state will be opening six new testing sites to address the recent surge of COVID-19 cases, including locations in Westchester and Rockland counties as of noon Tuesday, Jan. 4. According to 24/7 Wall St., Seneca Falls, located in Seneca County about 50 miles west of Syracuse, is the best winter destination in New York. New York Gov. Kathy Hochul said in an update that as many as 1,143 Afghan evacuees could resettle in New York over the next six months. Hochul said the evacuees who arrive in the state are expected to be placed in new communities between now and Thursday, March 31, 2022. Two Remain Critically Injured After Crash Involving Tour Bus From Hudson Valley
Two people remain in critical condition three days after a tour bus from the Hudson Valley headed for a trip to Niagara Falls crashed upstate. The crash took place Saturday afternoon, Aug. 14 on westbound I-90 near Exit 40 (Weedsport) in Cayuga County when it exited the roadway for an unknown reason and rolled over onto the grassy shoulder, according to New York State Police. All 57 occupants, including the driver, were transported for injuries ranging from minor to critical. Feeling lucky? New Yorkers are being offered an extra incentive to go get the COVID-19 vaccine at select locations. Between Monday, May 24, and Friday, May 28, state residents who get vaccinated at 10 sites will be provided free lottery scratch-off tickets to anyone 18 and older.
