Enormous Brush Fire Breaks Out Over 12 Acres In Goldens Bridge
Firefighters from multiple municipalities teamed up to battle an aggressive brush fire that broke out in Northern Westchester Wednesday night, April 3, The blaze occurred along the northern side of Todd Road in the Lewisboro hamlet of Golden Bridge and damaged an estimated 12 acres of wetlands, according to Goldens Bridge Fire Chief James McManus. Former Cuomo Aide From Northern Westchester Ordered To Report To Prison
A Northern Westchester man and former top aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo has been ordered to report to prison after being convicted on corruption charges and having his appeal denied. Joseph Percoco, a South Salem resident, was convicted of accepting $300,000 in bribes from an energy company last year and was sentenced to six years in prison. Percoco was originally scheduled to report to prison on March 1, but a court ruled that he can stay a free man as he appeals his conviction. Retail Mail Services Suspended In North Salem When Car Strikes Building
Mail services at the North Salem Post Office have been temporarily suspended after a motorist drove into the building, causing extensive damage. The United States Postal Service issued an alert on Friday, Feb. 15, warning that “in the interest of public and employee safety,” retail customer service operations are temporarily suspended at the North Salem Post Office on June Road. Officials said that a vehicle ran into an exterior wall near the lobby door of the 2,970-square-foot facility. Firefighters from multiple municipalities in Northern Westchester battled a house fire late Sunday afternoon near the Fairfield County border. The former top aide to New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo who was sentenced to six years in prison on corruption charges will spend Christmas and New Year’s Eve with his family, not behind bars. A large coyote was spotted making the rounds in Northern Westchester. The latest coyote sighting in Westchester came from a South Salem resident, who saw the "good-sized" animal making the rounds on the Lewisboro Elementary School property on Bouton Road in South Salem at approximately 2 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5.
