Deputy Injured By Drunk Driver In Putnam Valley: Sheriff Several people face charges after driving drunk in the Hudson Valley, including a woman who struck a sheriff deputy's vehicle, authorities said.  The arrests happened in Putnam County between Friday, April 5, and Sunday, April 7, the Putnam County Sheriff's Office announced on Monday, April 8.  The first incident occurred on Friday, April 5 around 10:45 p.m., when a sheriff's deputy's vehicle was struck by another car that crossed into his lane while traveling north on Peekskill Hollow Road in Putnam Valley. Driver Escapes Injury After Hitting Pole, Flipping Vehicle On Route 22, Police Say A Hudson Valley man escaped injury after he lost control of his vehicle and struck a utility pole. The crash took place around 7:20 a.m., Friday, June 4, in Putnam County, on Route 22 in Patterson, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Byron R. Duarte Giron, age 23, of Dover, was driving a 2010 Mazda southbound when his vehicle left the roadway and struck a pole and overturned, said Trooper AJ Hicks. Route 22 has reopened. No charges will be filed in the case.

An abandoned young female Holland Lop domestic rabbit was discovered in a W.B. Mason box on Monday, Aug. 31 in front of the Pet Valu Store on Route 22 in Patterson when employees went to open the store. Man, Woman Face Separate Charges After Route 22 Stop A man and woman of Brewster are both facing charges following a traffic stop initiated by a Putnam County Deputy Sheriff. The deputy sheriff pulled over a vehicle on Route 22 in Patterson that allegedly committed a traffic violation Tuesday, Nov. 20. Upon further inspection, the deputy learned that the vehicle’s driver, 40-year-old John Covias, had a suspended license in addition to two active warrants out from the Duchess County Sheriff’s Office.
