A 47-year-old man may spend the rest of his life behind bars after admitting to robbing two women at a Westchester Metro-North station while brandishing a box cutter. Arthur Branch of Yonkers has pleaded guilty to a felony count of second-degree armed robbery dating back to an incident in 2016 at the Mount Vernon station, Westchester County District Attorney Anthony Scarpino, Jr. announced on Thursday. Body Discovered Near Metro-North Tracks
Metro-North officials suspended service on the Wassaic Line after a body was discovered near the tracks in Putnam County, according to MTA officials. The body was found around 9:15 a.m. Thursday near the Dykeman Road railroad crossing in Brewster, said Aaron Donovan, deputy communications director for the MTA. "MTA Police are investigating as a potential case where the person may have been struck by a train, but it wasn’t immediately clear if that was the case," Donovan said. Metro-North Delays, Cancellations After Person Struck, Killed
Some Metro-North trains are being canceled and others delayed as MTA police investigate a fatal strike near the Beacon station. Metro-North announced that the Hudson Line is experiencing service delays after an unauthorized person was struck and killed by a train at approximately 12:24 p.m. on the tracks south of the Beacon station, according to a spokesperson. Irish eyes will be smiling throughout the area during St. Patrick’s Day on Saturday, though not as much on any Metro-North Railroad lines, where booze is banned on one of the busiest drinking days of the year. A man gunned during a shooting in Westchester County on Wednesday has been identified, according to Mount Vernon city officials. Donovan Brown, 24, of Mount Vernon, was shot and killed, outside of 15 S. Macquesten Parkway shortly after midnight, said City Spokeswoman Maria Donovan.
