Second Westchester Man Charged With Stealing $10K Worth Of Designer Handbags In Greenwich
Police have arrested a second Westchester man in connection with the theft of more than $10,000 worth of handbags from a Greenwich Avenue store.
Gerald Smith, 48, of Mount Vernon, was arrested on Wednesday, Nov. 20, for the Jan. 15 theft, said Greenwich Police Lt. John Slusarz.
On April 4, Greenwich Police arrested Joshua Spillman, 40, also of Mount Vernon, and charged him with organized retail theft greater than $10,000, conspiracy to commit larceny and larceny.
Smith was caught by Nassau County Police where he was arrested on unrelated charges.

Duo Nabbed With Hundreds Of Stolen Checks, Including From Westchester, Fairfield Counties
Two men were nabbed by Greenwich police with hundreds of stolen checks from more than 25 counties, including Westchester and Fairfield counties.
Mark A. Claudio, 23, and Dondre Waugh, 27, both of the Bronx, were arrested on Thursday, Oct. 24, by Greenwich Police after they received a call from a Riverside resident at 11 a.m., who reported that two men had just stolen items out of her mailbox, including checks, said Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry.
Patrol officers responded to the area and located a vehicle matching the victim's description and conducted a traffic stop, Berry said.…
Westchester Woman Accused Of Evading Accident Gives Officer False Name, Greenwich Police Say
A Westchester woman accused of evading an accident allegedly gave a false name to police, according to Greenwich Police.
On Sunday, July 21 at approximately 9 p.m. police noticed a woman standing outside a residence she frequents in Byram. who had an active warrant for her arrest for allegedly evading an accident June 10, Greenwich Police said.
During the investigation, she allegedly gave a false name to police to hide her identity, according to police.

Ex-Boyfriend Arrested In Connection To Homicide Of Westchester Woman, 24, Found In Greenwich
Greenwich and New Rochelle police have arrested a former boyfriend in the murder of Valerie Reyes, the Westchester woman who was found dead bound and stuffed inside a suitcase in a wooded Greenwich area.
On Tuesday, Feb. 12, New Rochelle Police detectives, accompanied by Greenwich Police detectives, arrested Javier DeSilva, of Queens, in New York who had fraudulently used Reyes’ ATM card, said New Rochelle Police Capt. Cosmo Costa.
Reyes, 24, was found dead on the morning of Feb. 5, just off Glenville Road in Greenwich, said Greenwich Police Capt. Robert Berry.
