Burning Lithium Battery Sparks Garbage Truck Fire In Westchester Fire crews in Westchester responded to a garbage truck fire after workers spotted smoke coming from a lithium-ion battery from the vehicle’s load, firefighters said. The incident happened in Dobbs Ferry on Tuesday, Jan. 28, around 8 a.m., when the Dobbs Ferry Fire Department was dispatched to the Department of Public Works Garage for reports of a garbage truck fire.  Upon arrival, firefighters found that the smoke was coming from the back of the truck. Woman Hit By Garbage Truck While Crossing Roadway In Hudson Valley A woman is in critical condition after being hit by a garbage truck while crossing a street in the Hudson Valley. The incident took place in Rockland County around 8:30 a.m., Tuesday, Feb. 8 in Spring Valley. According to Det. Matthew Galli, of the Spring Valley Police, the 67-year-old woman was hit by a garbage truck while crossing Division Street. She was transported to Westchester Medical Center with critical injuries, Galli said. Additional information was not immediately available. This is a developing story.
