Westchester's Arlene M. Mavilia, 75, Was A Nurse In The Area For Over 50 Years
Arlene M. Mavilia, 75, of Baldwin Place, NY and a former resident of South Salem, passed away on May 9 after a brief fight with cancer. Arlene was born November 11, 1946 in Brooklyn to the late Alfhild and Edward Anderson. She grew up in Lake Telemark, NJ and Stamford, CT before settling in South Salem’s Lake Waccabuc community. A 1967 graduate of the Greenwich Hospital Nursing School in Connecticut, Arlene worked as an RN in various capacities for over 50 years — including several years as the school nurse at John Jay High School in Cross River. ID Released For Baldwin Place Man Killed In Saw Mill Parkway Crash
The driver who died in a crash on the Saw Mill River Parkway that closed the northbound lanes in Bedford Hills for hours has been identified. Robert Leff, 51, of the Baldwin Place section of Somers, died around 11:25 a.m. Thursday after crashing into a tree, said Kieran O'Leary, spokesman for the Westchester County Police. Leff was traveling northbound in the vicinity of Green Lane when his Toyota Rav 4 left the roadway and struck a tree. He was the only occupant of the vehicle and was pronounced dead at the scene, O'Leary said. The cause of the accident remains under investigation by…
