The fire began at around 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 29 at Tarrytown's Tarry Tavern at 27 Main St. and went on to significantly damage the building, Tarrytown village officials said.
Although there were no injuries and the blaze was prevented from spreading to surrounding buildings, the incident left restaurant employees without jobs and three tenants without homes.
To help those affected begin their rebuilding process, community members have set up two fundraisers to collect donations.
The first of these efforts is from the Briarcliff-based Gullotta House charity, which set up a fundraiser for the Tarry Tavern's employees and building tenants soon after the fire was put out.
"Tarry Tavern is a strong Gullotta House partner and has provided meals and support for food insecurities in the local area," the fundraiser page reads, continuing, "We are now looking to the community to donate to support their employees and neighbors during this uncertain time."
As of Wednesday morning, Oct. 30, the page had collected just under $2,000 out of a $10,000 goal.

Meanwhile, a separate GoFundMe fundraiser for the three tenants left without homes was also created by organizer Danielle Centofanti Davidson.
"Lia and Kristin Dolan, grad students living on the third floor, and Victor, an active community member living on the second floor, thankfully made it out safely, but all their belongings were completely destroyed," Davidson wrote on the page, adding, "Please consider donating to help our neighbors rebuild their lives if you are able. No donation is too small."
As of Wednesday morning, the page had collected over $11,000 out of a $20,000 goal.

In a statement, the Tarrytown Fire Department commented on the devastating blaze:
"At the end of the day, we are pleased to report there are no injuries. It also saddens us as members of the community to see many without homes and a great business that has suffered loss. Please keep our neighbors in your thoughts during this time," the department said.
