Somers Hearing Looks At Smart Schools Bond Act

SOMERS, N.Y. -- The Somers Central School District will hold a public hearing Tuesday at 7 p.m. in the Somers Middle School Library.

The hearing is so stakeholders can respond to the preliminary smart schools investment plans as outlined on the governor's website:

“In January 2014, Governor Andrew M. Cuomo called for New York State to invest $2 billion in its schools through a Smart Schools Bond Act (SSBA) that will build out schools and classrooms for the 21st Century to ensure that our students graduate with the skills they need to thrive in the economy of today and tomorrow. Voters approved the Bond Act in November 2014." 

Somers Central School District says the funds identified by the Department of Education for Somers total $713,823.
