SOMERS, N.Y. -- A 23-year-old Yorktown man is in the Westchester County Jail after state police say he stabbed a 28-year-old male from Mahopac after an overnight fight at PJ's Bar, located on Route 6 in Somers, escalated.

State police from the Somers barracks charged James P. Nardella of Yorktown Heights with assault in the first degree, a Class B felony, on Sunday.

At approximately 5 a.m. Saturday, several patrons of the bar engaged in a verbal argument that had escalated, police said. They exited the bar into the parking area where Nardella allegedly stabbed a male victim with a knife, according to police. Nardella reportedly left the bar prior to police arriving on scene.

The victim from Mahopac was treated for several non-life threatening stab wounds to his torso, hip and arm, state police said.

Following a detailed investigation, Nardella was identified as a suspect, according to police.

He was located and arrested at his Yorktown Heights home Sunday, before being arraigned in the Town of Somers Court before and remanded to the Westchester County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail.

He is due to appear Somers Court on Jan. 9.
