Somers Man Charged With DWI In Yorktown

YORKTOWN HEIGHTS, N.Y. -- Yorktown police have arrested Kenneth Covert, a 51-year-old Somers man, for driving while intoxicated following a single vehicle crash on Granite Springs Road.

Police were dispatched to the crash site at approximately 11:51 p.m. Monday, officials report.

After an investigation, Covert was arrested and brought to the Yorktown police station for processing, according to police.

Covert was charged with driving while intoxicated and operating a motor vehicle with a blood alcohol level of .18 or greater, both unclassified misdemeanors; he was also charged with driving a vehicle on the shoulder, a traffic violation, police report.

Covert was released on his own recognizance to a family member, and is due back in Yorktown Justice Court on Tuesday, March 8, for arraignment, officials report.
