The debris reportedly includes a wheel and a seat.
Following the discovery of the debris, the investigation has been turned over to the New York City Department of Environmental Protection.
State police from Troop K were notified that a civilian aircraft was believed to have descended in the area of the reservoir at around 8:30 p.m. Thursday.
Danbury Airport reported that a 1971 Beech aircraft lost contact with the airport at approximately 4:30 p.m. as it approached its runway. The aircraft reportedly lost radar contact with the airport, placing the Beech just south of the Titicus Reservoir.
Divers from the New York State Police and Department of Environmental Protection will continue to search the reservoir as a part of this active investigation.
New York State Police were assisted by the Croton Falls Fire Department, Yorktown Heights Fire Department, Department of Environmental Protection, Civil Air Patrol, and State Police aviation.
